Child Safety and Discipline

Please read before registering a child for a class.

Sewing requires the use of tools that can cause injury if not handled properly. Sharp objects, machinery, and hot irons all pose a risk.

  • Rotary cutters will NOT be used in any children’s class, or by any student under age 16, except under direct parental supervision in a class where parent and child are both participants, at the parent’s discretion.

  • Due to the risk of injury to students and damage to equipment, horseplay will not be tolerated. A student engaging in horseplay will receive one warning. If the behavior continues, the student will be removed from the sewing area for the remainder of the class period. If there is a repeat occurrence on another day, the student will not be allowed to complete the remaining classes. No refund will be given.

  • Horseplay is any physical action that could result in damage, injury, or class disruption, to include intentionally annoying another student, making threatening gestures with tools (even in jest), and physically engaging with other students such as pushing, grabbing, and wrestling.

  • At times a student may need to wait patiently while I assist another.

  • If your child is not yet capable of these standards of behavior, please wait until they are older to enroll them
